Goat Milk
Healthy forage supports healthy goats that produce healthy goat milk. Cottage Hill Dairy is a USDA licensed Grade A goat milk producer. We bottle and package goat milk, yogurt, and other fluid goat milk products. Our milk is gently pasteurized and then bottled or made into yogurt or Skyr. Our pasteurization process, known as low temperature long time vat pasteurization. This preserves the health benefits of raw goat milk while making the milk safe for your family. Skyr is a traditional Icelandic soft cheese remarkably like Greek yogurt in flavor and texture. We produce a drinkable yogurt that contains the whey normally discarded in yogurt processing. The whey has probiotics and is extremely high in digestible protein. Miss Tuffet had something right in her bowl of ‘Curds and Whey’.
Our goats are born and raised on our small farm in Beavercreek Oregon. At Cottage Hill Dairy our farm management practices ensure that our goats have constant access to fresh water, high quality feed and forage, immediate high quality veterinary care, access to pasture, and freedom to express normal goat behavior. Our goats are not numbers, they all have names. We handle our goats with positive reinforcement not ‘herded’ with fear or coercion. We are actively pursuing a ‘Certified Humane’ certification for our farm. Cottage Hill Dairy is a member in good standing of the American Diary Goat Association. We take part in herd appraisal and breeding programs that benefit the goats and their breed. Our farm and milk are regularly inspected and tested by the Oregon Department of Agriculture to meet or exceed USDA standards for Grade A milk.
